Be Happy – Train Better

On Sunday I will be taking part in my first 10k run, the Bristol 10k.

Over the past few weeks I have been training hard to get myself in shape and ready for the run. When I first started my training program I found it very difficult to motivate myself and kept telling myself I wanted to stop when I had only run a 3-4k.

It struck me last week that training and exercise should not feel this hard, that’s when I realized I was finding it hard because I was not trying to enjoy myself.

On my next run I tried to keep a smile on my face, I went out training planning to enjoy myself…. and I did.

Since that day I have dramatically improved my run times and distances, I love going running and I have no problems motivating myself to go running.

Hopefully you can learn from my experience, you don’t have to be running, maybe you go to the gym or cycle. Whatever you do, next time you do it have a smile on your face and allow yourself to enjoy it.

Staying fit is fun, so go out there and enjoy yourself, you may find it helps you to improve your fitness even further.
